Glossary Item Box

Applies to

TPlusMemo, TDBPlusMemo

Declaration

property DisplayOnly: Boolean;

property ReadOnly   : Boolean;

Description

These properties control whether the user can modify the content of a TPlusMemo or TDBPlusMemoReadOnly has the same purpose as in a TMemo.  It must be set to False (the default) in order to enable user text edition.

DisplayOnly is a property similar to ReadOnly, with the difference that no caret shows even if the component has the focus.  Only the scroll bars and arrow keys are active, with the arrow keys having the effect of scrolling the display.  Both ReadOnly and DisplayOnly must be False in order to enable the user typing, cutting and pasting.  In fact, with DisplayOnly set to True, the TPlusMemo or TDBPlusMemo acts as a TLabel but with possible scroll bars and the possibility to scroll the window with arrow keys.

It is recommended that some means are implemented to give visual feedback of the control gaining or loosing focus with the help of the OnEnter and OnExit events, whenever DisplayOnly is set to True.
